In his 50 years of practicing law, Jon Schmoll has known that the best way to practice law and serve his clients is finding a solution for his clients’ problems. Firmly believing in helping his clients through their hardships, Jon will thoroughly analyze a case and map it out for his clients, even if it means presenting some hard truths. His practice areas include wrongful death, truck crashes, uninsured and underinsured insurance claims, medical malpractice, and personal injury cases.

Jon has served as Of Counsel to the firm since 2009. Prior to that, he practiced law for over 40 years at one of Indiana’s leading defense firms. His experience as a trial lawyer and working on the other side of table provides immeasurable insight into what it takes for a successful outcome in his clients’ cases. He has handled and tried a large number of medical malpractice, hospital liability, semi-truck crashes, product liability, civil rights, and insurance coverage cases throughout the entire State of Indiana, as well as in Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan.

By invitation, Jon is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and an Advocate with the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is also a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation and he enjoys an AV® Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®. He has been recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyers® from 2004-2006 and 2008-2019.

Jon is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, a Past Chairman of its Trial Lawyer Section, and a sustaining member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates (having served as President of the Indiana Chapter and a National Board Member from Indiana). He is also a former member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (ending membership due to representing injured people).

Jon is a former member of the Board of Visitors at Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis and is the legal advisor to the Honorable Sonya Morris, Judge of the East Chicago City Court. For the US District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, Jon previously served as a member of its Merit Selection Committee for Magistrate Judges and a member of the Local Rules Committee.

In addition, Jon has presented at Continuing Legal Education programs in Indiana dealing with hospital liability and medical malpractice, trial techniques for medical malpractice cases, and uninsured and underinsured motorist cases.

Jon is a lifelong Indiana resident and a resident of Porter County for over 50 years, where he lives along the Indiana Dunes with his wife, Sandra. He remains active in alumni matters at Indiana University Bloomington and the School of Law in Indianapolis. He enjoys activities in Chicago and is an avid traveler.
